Head coach Ben Johnson told reporters Wednesday that Gardner-Johnson will play slot corner for the Bears, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
The Bears signed Gardner-Johnson to their active roster Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Is a very good tackler, so he is a big asset in stopping the run. Can also play in the slot to cover tight ends and some slot receivers, which shows his athleticism and overall ability. At times, he is used on blitzes as well. Lacks optimum height (5'10"), so taller receivers can give him trouble, but he has the bulk to handle them physically. Is a well-rounded safety.
