Smith signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Golden Knights on Wednesday, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic.
Smith was traded to the Golden Knights from the Rangers on Thursday in exchange for Brendan Brisson and a 2025 third-round pick, Larry Brooks of The New York Post reports.
A prototypical low-maintenance forward, he can play in any situation thanks to his skating, skill and two-way effort. Coaches trust him in every aspect of the game because he wins puck battles, can convert turnovers into scoring opportunities and is almost never out of position. He is a useful penalty killer and a threat to score while shorthanded, and he can also contribute on the power play.
Long Range Potential: Solid two-way winger.
