The Saints re-signed Mathieu on a two-year, $13 million contract Thursday, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports.
Mathieu recorded five tackles (three solo) in Sunday's 23-13 win at Tampa Bay.
Fantastically athletic and instinctive as a playmaker. Constantly around the ball causing havoc as a defensive back. Explosive and elusive as a return man. Has the speed to stay with pretty much any receiver and can break away from tacklers in the return game. Feisty, very physical, and will cause turnovers. Has been in significant off-field trouble and must show he's learned from it to succeed in the NFL. Undersized for an NFL defensive back and will have trouble against jumbo-sized wideouts and tight ends. Already injury-prone, and must show he can stay durable at his size.
Long Range Potential: Explosive (but risky) star playmaking defensive back.
