Rountree is on the outside looking in at the Chargers' 53-man roster, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
The Chargers signed Rountree to their active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game at San Francisco.
A high character actor, he exhibited toughness, durability and a solid record of production in the college game. A no-nonsense, downhill runner, he will allow his blocking to set up and follow it to daylight. Is willing to sacrifice and hurls his body with abandon on short yardage and goal line plays. Concedes nothing at the finish and will mete out punishment on his way to the ground. Is somewhat one-dimensional and undeveloped as a receiver; he may not be an every down back in the pros.
Long Range Potential: Early down, rotational running back.
