Dolphins special teams coordinator Craig Aukerman said Thursday that he's uncertain if Sanders (hip) is close to returning to action or if the kicker will be activated from injured reserve this season, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters Wednesday that Sanders (hip) is not ready to return from injured reserve, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
A highly accurate kicker with long-distance range, he generates impressive power and hang time from a relatively small frame and short leg. Is freakishly long on kick-offs, resulting in a high touchback rate. Poised under pressure, he is hard to rattle with the game on the line. With a small sample size as a pro, he lacks a track record on clutch attempts. Must establish consistency and build credentials over the long term.
Long Range Potential: Quality place-kicker.
