VanVleet will sign a two-year, $50 million contract with the Rockets, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.
A quick, heady playmaker at point guard. He takes charge of running his team's offense, breaks down the 'D' nicely, and makes good decisions (without turning the ball over much). He's additionally a gritty, high-effort defender (who gets his steals) and a very solid 3-point shooter. Hits his free throws too. Small even for an NBA point guard and he doesn't have a long wingspan to make up for it. Not much of a leaper at all, which (when combined with his short reach) contributes to his struggles finishing at / above the rim and hurting his field goal percentage. Not quite a pass-first point guard.
Long Range Potential: Underrated two-way point guard with some starter tools.
