The Mets and Torrens avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.275 million contract Thursday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Scouting Report

Has a good bat for the catching position, complete with emerging power and a good approach at the plate (he can draw a fair amount of walks). Also displays good defensive instincts behind the dish. Injuries, especially to his right (throwing) shoulder, have hindered his development to date. There are concerns that he might not ever regain his full arm strength (a major problem for a catcher).

Long Range Potential: Talented, fragile offensive catcher with upside.
