GILBERT FOR GUENETTE
The Ottawa Senators acquired defenseman Dennis Gilbert from the Philadelphia Flyers for defenseman Maxence Guenette.
What does it give the Ottawa Senators
Gilbert adds depth to Ottawa's blueline, which is currently dealing with an injury to Thomas Chabot. The veteran has NHL experience and can serve as a bottom-pairing or seventh defenseman. He may also continue to play in the AHL, where he had spent the 2025-26 season.
What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
Philadelphia will take a chance on Guenette, who was an unsigned restricted free agent with Ottawa. An all-around defender, he has produced decent offensive stats at the AHL level but has played only eight NHL games so far. The 24-year-old gets a fresh start with the Flyers.
Fantasy impact
Guenette could be worth keeping an eye on if he can establish himself with the Flyers but this trade will not have much of a fantasy impact for now.
