O'Connor (hip surgery) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp, according to Corey Masisak of The Denver Post.
Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said Sunday that O'Connor (hip) will undergo season-ending surgery, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.
The undrafted forward earned his NHL opportunity by putting up good offensive totals in the American Hockey League. He is a good playmaker whose puck-possession numbers and defensive metrics are strong. Needs to get stronger to earn a regular NHL role, but his off-the-puck play is good enough to keep teams interested in him even if he is not generating a lot of offense.
