Couture (groin) has not resumed skating and remains without a timeline to return, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reported Friday.
He was the epitome of a two-way center and team leader. Offensively, he put up solid if not spectacular numbers, though he could have been even more productive with fewer defensive responsibilities and additional power-play time. However, coaches loved his prowess in the defensive zone; he usually got the prime defensive assignments and spent a lot of time killing penalties. He knew where to be on the ice most of the time. Unfortunately, his NHL career ended prematurely due to injury.
