Turris will be a special advisor to the general manager for the BCHL's Coquitlam Express this year, signalling the end of the 33-year-old's playing career.
Turris was designated for waivers by Nashville on Wednesday in order to buy out his contract, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.
The third player taken in the 2007 NHL Draft saw his game fall off a cliff over time. He was regarded as a scoring center for much of his career but dropped to a depth role late in his NHL stint. He skated well, had good hockey sense and was a decent playmaker. However, he was not a great fit for teams that played an up-tempo style (which was nearly every organization by the end of his NHL playing days). Was never much of a physical presence, either.
