Blomqvist (lower body) will be on the shelf for at least four weeks, the team announced Friday.
Blomqvist (lower body) isn't expected to play in Friday's preseason game against Detroit, the Penguins announced Thursday.
Has exceptional quickness, especially when moving side to side. Therefore, he is hard to beat on plays in tight. Also displays the cool, calm demeanor that is required to excel between the posts. Has a tendency to come up with big saves at important moments and never quicks on a play. Can make the circus save look routine. His weakness is his tendency to play too small in the net, despite good size. Needs to do a better job of playing more upright so as to avoid teams exploiting him upstairs.
Long Range Potential: Talented, ultra-quick goaltender with upside.
