What distinguishes him as a defenseman is how creative and smart he is both with and without the puck on his stick. He is cool under pressure, so he moves the puck very well with crisp passes but is also very good at jumping up into the play to join the attack (or lug the puck up ice himself with smooth skating ability). Is adept at quarterbacking the power play and can also score goals himself from the point thanks to a hard shot. Despite ideal size for a blueliner, he defends his position with aplomb and may even develop shutdown ability as he matures and gets physically stronger. He can play on either side of the ice.
