CHARGERS TRADE FOR TREVOR PENNING
The Los Angeles Chargers acquired offensive lineman Trevor Penning from the New Orleans Saints for a sixth-round draft pick in 2027.
What does it give the Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers have now lost both starting offensive tackles for the season, with Joe Alt joining Rashawn Slater on injured reserve. Therefore, help was needed. Penning had been playing guard in New Orleans but is likely to be used at tackle with the Chargers. Penning may even start right away.
What does it give the New Orleans Saints
For the struggling Saints, trading away Penning feels like a no-brainer. They were able to secure a late pick in 2027, which is not bad considering Penning was not an essential piece to the offensive line. He will probably be replaced by Dillon Radunz, who was acquired in the off-season as a free agent.
