Purcell (ribs) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears.
An un-drafted free agent out of the University of Wyoming, he has worked harder than most athletes to become a first-string defensive lineman in the National Football League. His versatility is an asset, as well: he can play over the center at nose tackle, or line up as a 3-4 defensive end or 4-3 defensive tackle. Is mostly a run stopper who occupies a lot of territory, which frees up his teammates to make tackles. Can sack the QB on the rare occasion that he is rushing the passer, and can finish off tackles himself. However, his main job is to clog up the middle of the line of scrimmage.
Long Range Potential: Solid, versatile interior defensive lineman.
