DODGERS GET LAUER FROM THE JAYS
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher Eric Lauer from the Toronto Blue Jays for cash.
What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
Lauer provides the Dodgers with much-needed depth amid injuries. The veteran left-hander re-established himself as an MLB starter last year, but he was unable to replicate that success to begin the 2026 season. With injuries piling up, Lauer could get a look in LA's rotation or work as a long reliever. A decent low-risk addition for the Dodgers.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
Lauer played an important role during the 2025 regular season, helping Toronto reach the playoffs and eventually make their World Series appearance. This year, though, he pitched to a 6.69 ERA and 1.49 WHIP through 36.1 IP, after which the Blue Jays designated him for assignment. They are moving on, so just cash is the return coming back from the Dodgers.
Fantasy impact
Unless Lauer becomes a consistent starter again, he will remain off the radar. He will need to earn a spot in the Dodgers rotation, and he could end up in the minors if he does not pitch well.
