The Nationals recalled Fernandez from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.
The Nationals claimed Fernandez off outright waivers from the Dodgers on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester.
Has a very lanky, projectable (6-6) frame and should be able to add more bulk. Can be used as a late-inning reliever in the minor leagues due to good stuff. Overall, he is fairly hard to hit against. Can be prone to bouts of extreme wildness, which he will need to curb in order to pitch effectively in Major League Baseball. Also needs to add significant weight to maximize his MLB appearances.
Long Range Potential: Inconsistent, talented right-hander with some upside.
