The Rockies designated Lamet for assignment Saturday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Lamet (1-4) took the loss Friday as the Rockies were routed 8-1 by Atlanta, surrendering eight runs on five hits -- including three home runs -- and five walks over four innings. He struck out five.
Owns a live arm and a very wiry frame, so the combination of velocity and deception make him hard to hit against. Can strike batters out regularly, especiallu due to a great changeup. Can get into trouble (at all levels) when he walks too many batters, so he must continue to work on improving his control in order to maximize output in Major League Baseball.
Long Range Potential: Talented right-hander with upside.
