Ruiz allowed zero runs on one hit and zero walks while striking out two over one inning Thursday against the Athletics.
Scouting Report
A rare converted catcher now trying his hand on the mound, he boasts a very live arm with plenty of swing-and-miss ability and a pretty good game plan on the bump. Needs to gain more strength and stamina, not to mention mound experience, in order to maximize output as a big-league reliever. Also needs to refine his delivery.
Long Range Potential: Raw, talented reliever with a little upside.
