Wieck (elbow) struck out one and walked one over a scoreless inning of relief Wednesday in the Cubs' 6-1 win over the Brewers in Cactus League play.
Wieck (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list, cleared waivers outrighted to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Is a mammoth physical specimen (6-9, 255) with a left-handed, power arm and plenty of strikeout ability. Can dominate on the bump, especially left-handed hitters. At times, he has trouble repeating his delivery and commanding his pitches, which leads to inconsistent results. He needs to become more reliable for the big leagues.
Long Range Potential: Huge left-hander with some upside.
