The Giants recalled Diaz from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Boasts a quality left-handed stroke with good bat speed and emerging home-run power. Can play some shortstop but his future lies at second base (he hands soft hands and decent range). While he can draw walks, he could stand to become a more patient hitter at the plate (since strikeouts are an issue). Is a big too wound up at times, so he needs to relax more at the dish.
Long Range Potential: Left-handed, power-hitting middle infielder with upside.
