Burdi (elbow) signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Tuesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Scouting Report
Owns an ideal pitchers' frame (6-5, 220 pounds) and a quality fastball that can approach triple-digits. Backs up his heat with an outstanding slider. Can also throw an occasional changeup. Injuries are already a factor in his development. Also, while he can be effectively wild, sometimes he is just wild (and needs to be in better command of his arsenal to thrive in the bigs).
Long Range Potential: Hard-throwing reliever with some upside.
