Cease did not factor into the decision in Friday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the White Sox, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

Scouting Report

His fastball is a major weapon and can reach triple digits, and he pitches with a smooth, easy delivery. Is unafraid of challenging batters upstairs, which can lead to piles of strikeouts. His bending curve and changeup are also solid offerings. Needs to continue to work on commanding his secondary pitches. Also, his fourth pitch (slider) needs a lot more refinement. Failure to improve upon his breaking pitches could lead to a switch to a bullpen role at the highest level.

Long Range Potential: Talented, dominant right-hander with good upside.
