The Yankees signed Velazquez to a minor-league contract Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.
Velazquez was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Has the ability to play all over the field. Furthermore, he is a switch-hitter with a strong arm and great speed. All of that makes for a very versatile performer for Major League Baseball. If he ever is to become anything more than a quality utility man, he will need to cut down on his strikeout rate. Also, while he has the arm for shortstop, he profiles best at second base.
