McGuire will start at catcher and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Blue Jays.
McGuire is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
Displays great hands, excellent athleticism, sound defensive instincts and a quality throwing arm from behind the plate. Can shut down the opponents' running game. Has added value as a left-hand-hitting catcher. His offense is nowhere near his defense in terms of overall development, so he needs to prove he can at least hit for average (if not home-run power) in order to maximize his appearances in Major League Baseball.
Long Range Potential: Great defensive catcher with a little upside.
