The Reds and Sims avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.85 million contract Thursday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
A good athlete (he is a converted shortstop), he pounds the strike zone regularly with good command and an aggressive approach on the bump. Has a pretty decent frame, too. While his fastball and curve are quality offerings, he needs more work on his changeup to make a major impact as a starter in Major League Baseball. Must walk fewer batters.
Long Range Potential: Quality right-hander with upside.
