Gausman didn't factor into the decision Thursday against Colorado. He tossed six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out 10.

The Blue Jays announced Saturday that Gausman will be the team's Opening Day starter against the Athletics on March 27.

Scouting Report

Has tremendous stuff and great poise on the mound. Generally throws strikes and is capable of striking batters out with regularity. Shows no fear on the hill. His changeup is his best pitch. Lacks a little experience in the pros, so he must prove capable of adjusting to Major League Baseball hitters. Also could stand to improve his breaking pitches to maximize his production.

Long Range Potential: Talented right-hander with a little upside.
