Hedges signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Guardians on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Hedges went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.
Is an exceptional defensive catcher, with outstanding throwing ability from behind the plate, a quick release and also great agility. His receiving skills are off-the-charts good, overall. Can also be a solid contact hitter. Is woefully inconsistent at the dish, prone to huge hitting slumps. Also, the jury is still out on his long-term power stroke at the big-league level. Gets into trouble when he starts to swing for the fences.
Long Range Potential: Excellent defensive catcher.
