Perez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Athletics.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said prior to Sunday's game against the Yankees that Perez could see more of his starts at designated hitter over the next few days since the veteran backstop has been dealing with a sore hip of late, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Scouting Report

Is a natural leader, with plenty of power and run-producing qualities. Also has good instincts behind the plate. Displays very good hitting ability. Injuries are a bit of a concern. Needs to walk more often so as to maximize his offensive output in Major League Baseball. His power is inconsistent.

Long Range Potential: Excellent all-around catcher and leader.
