Washington placed Espino on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a flexor strain of his right ring finger, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Espino was recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Friday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
Is a resilient pitcher with the versatility to pitch both as a starter and reliever, which adds to his overall value for MLB teams. Is good at throwing a lot of strikes as a general rule. Lacks the ideal size (5-10, 215 pounds) and stamina of a big-league pitcher. Also lacks consistency in a major way (he can run red-hot or ice cold, with few results in between).
Long Range Potential: Versatile right-hander.
