Scouting Report
Was a born leader. A consummate defensive catcher, he threw out runners with ease, was great with the glove and handled pitchers as well as anyone ever has. Developed into a very good contact hitter with some pop and run-producing ability. Also ran the bases well for a catcher. Did not own above-average home-run power at the plate for a starting catcher. Could go into prolonged hitting funks as well, though not uncommon for a backstop who logged a ton of innings every season.
Long Range Potential: Outstanding, durable and clutch catcher and leader.
