Talent, maturity, and a shrewd understanding of how to sequence his pitches makes him a nightmare for batters entering the box. Does not lean on any one single pitch, it is his ability to mix and match his offerings that has made him successful. The best pitch in his arsenal is his incredibly nasty splitter that tends to leave hitters with nothing but air to swing at. His cutter mimics a four-seam fastball at 90 m.p.h. before it bites in and down under the hands of left-handed hitters, and even right-handed hitters have issues getting enough contact on the ball, which leads to increased groudballs. While he does have a 97 m.p.h. fastball in his repertoire, the better he is able to mix in his entire arsenal, the more success he will have.
