ISLES MOVE EHRHOFF'S RIGHTS TO BUFFALO
The Buffalo Sabres acquired defenseman Christian Ehrhoff from the New York Islanders for a fourth-round draft pick in 2012.
What does it give the Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres are being very aggressive this off-season, so adding Ehrhoff here proves that point. They will quickly attempt to sign the German defender before the UFA market opens. If they are able to sign him, Buffalo's blueline will be very good.
What does it give the New York Islanders
Since the Islanders tried to sign Ehrhoff, but it was in vain, they quickly flipped his rights to the Sabres for a pick in the same round they gave up in acquiring him in the first place. Solid asset management by GM Garth Snow here.
