TORONTO GETS CHICAGO'S BOLLAND

The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired center Dave Bolland from the Chicago Blackhawks for a second-round draft pick (51st overall) in 2013, a fourth-round draft pick (117th overall) in 2013 and a fourth-round draft pick in 2014.

What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
In Bolland, the Maple Leafs land an ideal third-line center with a winning resume that should pay dividends. He steps up when it matters most, and Toronto is hoping he can bring his clutch ability to his new team. With Bolland now in the fold, it's likely the Leafs will not re-sign center {P Tyler Bozak}. It also will place {P Nazem Kadri} and {P Mikhail Grabovski} in a better lineup situation.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks needed to create some cap space in order to re-sign {P Bryan Bickell} (and maybe others), so they decided Bolland was expendable. With {P Andrew Shaw} having taken over as the team's third-line center, this was an easy decision for GM Stan Bowman to make. He got good value for his veteran pivot, adding three future assets with one deal. This was a solid move for all involved.

Fantasy impact
Bolland won't likely have to play on the second line anymore, and he's leaving the defending champions. Therefore, his fantasy value takes a bit of a hit here. The big winners here are Shaw and whoever becomes Chicago's new second-line pivot (possibly Finnish prospect {P Teuvo Teravainen}).
