LEIGHTON FOR BARTOVIC
The Buffalo Sabres acquired goaltender Michael Leighton from the Chicago Blackhawks for winger Milan Bartovic.
What does it give the Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres will eventually trade one of their three NHL goalkeepers and will need depth when that occurs. Leighton will be a quality third-string option for the Sabres, and may eventually challenge for a backup job once again.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
After Craig Anderson beat Leighton out for the No. 2 role, the writing was on the wall for the latter. Bartovic will add a little speed and winger depth for the 'Hawks, but he'll start out in the AHL.
