SODERBLOM SENT TO PITTSBURGH

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired winger Elmer Soderblom from the Detroit Red Wings for a third-round draft pick in 2026.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins are banged up right now, particularly up front. They are also not the biggest team so adding the mammoth Soderblom makes a lot of sense. There is also a little bit of untapped upside in Soderblom.

What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
It appears that the Red Wings have decided to replace Soderblom with recent acquisition David Perron. Soderblom had recently been a healthy scratch so it is no surprise that Detroit moved on from him for a draft pick.

Fantasy impact
Soderblom should play a bottom-six forward role with the Penguins, so there is no need to pick him up in most fantasy leagues.
