In Thompson, the Canucks add a younger defenseman with some offensive upside. The 23-year-old already has 34 games of NHL experience, though he has spent the 2025-26 campaign in the minors. With Vancouver in last place and selling at the trade deadline, Thompson is a fine depth addition who could get a call-up down the stretch.

Woo is an AHL veteran who has yet to make his NHL debut. The 25-year-old brings more of a shutdown game to San Jose's organization, which has a good amount of young talent coming up on defense. Woo is likely to remain in the AHL, but he might be able to earn a look with the Sharks after this fresh start.
