DOWD DEALT TO THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
The Vegas Golden Knights acquired center Nic Dowd from the Washington Capitals for goaltender Jesper Vikman, a third-round draft pick in 2027 and a second-round draft pick in 2029.
What does it give the Vegas Golden Knights
For the Golden Knights, Dowd will add a much-needed center. Vegas has been using winger Mitch Marner down the middle for a large chunk of 2025-26, so Dowd will provide more options. He is good on face-offs and in penalty-killing situations. Dowd is also a solid veteran who should fit in well with the Knights.
What does it give the Washington Capitals
The Capitals are in an unfamiliar position heading into the trade deadline: they appear to be sellers. Dowd was a great fourth-line center for the Caps but his departure brought back three future assets. The second-rounder in '29 and third pick in '27 are the keys to this deal, while Vikman adds more goaltending depth to the organization.
Fantasy impact
Dowd will likely fill a bottom-six center role for the Golden Knights, but his fantasy value will be negligible. Vikman has no value at this time; he is a depth goaltender at this time.
