JASON DICKINSON DEALT TO EDMONTON

The Edmonton Oilers acquired center Jason Dickinson and forward Colton Dach from the Chicago Blackhawks for winger Andrew Mangiapane and a conditional first-round draft pick in 2027.

What does it give the Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers have really struggled defensively this season. Dickinson is a solid defensive center who kills penalties well. He is not a great offensive producer but will not need to be on the high-flying Oil. Dach is a big winger with good skating ability and a little upside. Overall, this trade (while expensive) should help Edmonton down the stretch.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
Mangiapane was recently waived and sent down to the AHL, so he does not have to be called up to Chicago if the Blackhawks don't need him. He is signed for one more season after 2025-26, though. The key to this trade for Chicago is landing another first-rounder in 2027 for two roster players they deemed expendable. The pick is top-12 protected in '27.

Fantasy impact
Dickinson might see an uptick in point production moving from a low-scoring Chicago squad to the high-flying Oilers. That said, he is mainly in Edmonton for defensive purposes. Dach has some untapped upside, so this move could be great for his career. Will Mangiapane be back in the NHL after this trade?
