MARCHMENT MOVED TO COLUMBUS
The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired winger Mason Marchment from the Seattle Kraken for a fourth-round draft pick in 2026 and a second-round draft pick in 2027.
What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets are currently sitting at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division standings, albeit in an extremely tight race this season. The hope is that big Marchment can provide more size, jam, physicality and shift disturbance to the squad. Columbus should now be harder to play against. Marchment is a pending UFA next summer, so the price to acquire a potential rental player may have been relatively high.
What does it give the Seattle Kraken
For Seattle, Marchment was one of several pending UFAs on the current roster. So, they may not be done dealing this season, especially if they continue to slide down the Western Conference standings. The fourth-rounder in '26 acquired in this deal now gives the Kraken three picks in that round for next summer, while the second-rounder in '27 added gives them three seconds for that year's selection process.
Fantasy impact
Marchment is streaky in terms of his point production, and he was off to a very slow start this season in Seattle. While this trade may boost his stock a bit, he is not a player to automatically add to fantasy rosters. He has a lot more value in leagues that count penalty minutes.
