REICHEL BROUGHT IN BY VANCOUVER

The Vancouver Canucks acquired forward Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks for a fourth-round draft pick in 2027.

What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks have been decimated by injury early on this season. Furthermore, they have been seeking center help since losing Pius Suter to St. Louis via unrestricted free agency this past summer. Reichel can play both center and wing, so he should help (at least as a short-term fix) a Vancouver team that is looking for an offensive spark.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
It was inevitable that Reichel was going to be traded at some point this season, so this move comes as no surprise. The return is a mid-level draft pick two years from now, which is not a lot for a talented forward. That said, the Blackhawks were playing Reichel on the fourth line for quite some time. Therefore, this return is a propos of that.

Fantasy impact
Reichel should see more ice time in Vancouver, at least to start his NHL career. That said, he is very streaky and unreliable as a fantasy forward option. Proceed with caution.
