SENATORS, DEVILS SWAP ENFORCERS

The Ottawa Senators acquired winger Kurtis MacDermid from the New Jersey Devils for winger Zack MacEwen.

What does it give the Ottawa Senators
In a trade that flashes back to the 1980s, the Senators and Devils decided to exchange rugged wingers. MacDermid is arguably the greater enforcer of the two players involved. He usually plays very limited minutes but can also skate on defense if injuries pile up. He is a good team-first player.

What does it give the New Jersey Devils
MacEwen can be used as an enforcer, too. However, he has more skill than MacDermid and might be able to carve out a regular fourth-line role in New Jersey. With Nathan Bastian now in Dallas, MacEwen will look to replace the former fourth-line right-winger in the Devils lineup.

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, unless fantasy leagues use penalty minutes/game as a stat category.
