The Edmonton Oilers acquired defenseman Troy Stecher and a seventh-round draft pick in 2024 from the Arizona Coyotes for a fourth-round draft pick in 2027.

What does it give the Edmonton Oilers
For the Oilers, Stecher will provide depth as the likely No. 7 defenseman down the stretch. He is a serviceable player with plenty of experience, so he should be a good fit.

What does it give the Arizona Coyotes
The Coyotes were never going to get much in return for Stecher alone, but at least they were able to get back a better draft pick than the one they gave up in this deal.
