DADONOV DEALT TO THE CANADIENS
The Montreal Canadiens acquired winger Evgeni Dadonov from the Vegas Golden Knights for defenseman Shea Weber.
What does it give the Montreal Canadiens
For Montreal, Dadonov should provide the club with some secondary scoring in 2022-23. He is a versatile winger who complements talented forwards well. The Russian veteran might be a good fit on a line with center Nick Suzuki and sniper Cole Caufield. Dadonov should also be an asset on the Canadiens' power play.
What does it give the Vegas Golden Knights
For Vegas, getting essentially nothing in return for Dadonov was exactly what the franchise needed at this time. Weber is basically retired now (even though he still has four years remaining on his contract). The Golden Knights will place Weber on Long Term Injured Reserve every year until the end of his deal. Moving Dadonov creates cap space.
Fantasy impact
Dadonov's fantasy value should remain steady moving from Vegas to Montreal. It could even improve but it is unlikely to worsen as a member of the Habs. He is a recommendable fantasy draft option for 2022.
