JAKE BEAN BROUGHT IN BY COLUMBUS
The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired defenseman Jake Bean from the Carolina Hurricanes for a second-round draft pick in 2021 (No. 44 overall).
What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets just traded Seth Jones to Chicago, so adding Bean here for a second-rounder in '21 makes a lot of sense. Bean will likely see time on the power play in Columbus and play a lot more with his new team in 2021-22, in all likelihood.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
Bean was left unprotected in the expansion draft, which may have been the first sign that not all was right here. The Hurricanes decided to move on from Bean for a second-rounder in this year's draft. This deal is a bit strange from a Carolina perspective.
Fantasy impact
Bean's fantasy stock would have been better had he stayed in Carolina. However, his ice time should increase with Columbus, so not all is lost. He is still worth picking up in some leagues.
