LEAFS, SENS SWAP THREE ASSETS

The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired winger Max Veronneau from the Ottawa Senators for center Aaron Luchuk and a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2021.

What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
Veronneau was signed by the Senators last year amid some hype due to his strong NCAA career at Princeton University, but he has failed to put it all together at the NHL level. For the Maple Leafs, Veronneau adds more AHL depth. He might be recalled at some point but figures to play a depth role for Toronto. The Leafs are making small deals for depth players, so far.

What does it give the Ottawa Senators
Luchuk was originally signed by Ottawa as an undrafted free agent in 2017. Sent to Toronto in the major deal involving Nikita Zaitsev and Connor Brown last summer, Luchuk returns to the Senators as a depth option in the minor leagues. Ottawa will also receive a sixth in '21 if Veronneau plays 10 games for the Leafs either in '19-20 or '20-21 (if he re-signs with them).

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, since both Veronneau and Luchuk figure to remain in the minors for the foreseeable future.
