JETS JETTISON QUINNEN WILLIAMS TO DALLAS
The Dallas Cowboys acquired defensive tackle Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets for defensive tackle Mazi Smith, a second-round draft pick in 2026 and a conditional first-round draft pick in 2027.
What does it give the Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys are still seeking improvements on defense, an area that has been their weakness all season long. Enter Williams, a stud defensive tackle who will now team with Kenny Clark and Osa Odighizuwa to form a very strong interior defensive line. That said, is it too late for Dallas to salvage their 2025 campaign? And did they overpay for Williams?
What does it give the New York Jets
The Jets have decided to strip it down just before the NFL trade deadline. Williams joins cornerback Sauce Gardner as players shipped out at this year's deadline. Smith has been disappointing since being drafted by Dallas in the first round (2023) but he will get a fresh start in New York. Landing two early picks in the next two years is huge for the Jets.
Fantasy impact
Williams can sack the quarterback as well as stuff the run, so he could be worth picking up in deep IDP leagues. Smith has work to do in order to reach Williams' status as a viable fantasy defensive tackle.
