SAUCE GARDNER GOES TO THE COLTS

The Indianapolis Colts acquired cornerback Sauce Gardner from the New York Jets for wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, a first-round draft pick in 2026 and a first-round draft pick in 2027.

What does it give the Indianapolis Colts
This is a massive addition for Indianapolis, who have a few issues at cornerback. Gardner will now team with Jaylon Jones to form a solid tandem in the absence of the injured Charvarius Ward (concussion). That said, the price to land Gardner was extremely high. The Colts need to make some noise in the playoffs this year to justify the cost.

What does it give the New York Jets
For the Jets, this trade is a bit of a shocker because Gardner was considered one of the team's building blocks on defense. He also signed a contract extension this past off-season, so moving on from him after eight games seems hasty. That said, landing two more first-round draft picks and a young wide receiver in Mitchell is an excellent haul.

Fantasy impact
Gardner is not a great tackler, so his IDP fantasy value is strictly dependent upon his ability to produce interceptions. However, he does not usually get thrown to often enough to make it happen. Pass. As for Mitchell, he might be worth a look in deep keeper formats or dynasty leagues.
