SONY MICHEL MOVES TO THE RAMS

The Los Angeles Rams acquired running back Sony Michel from the New England Patriots for a fifth-round draft pick in 2022 and a sixth-round draft pick in 2022.

What does it give the Los Angeles Rams
The Rams lost Cam Akers for the entire season before the preseason, and now Darrell Henderson is also hurting. Therefore, the win-now Rams decided to surrender a pair of draft picks in '22 for immediate help in the form of Michel. Look for Henderson and Michel to split carries in 2021. Michel may also be used in the kick return game by the Rams.

What does it give the New England Patriots
The Patriots were always going to move on from Michel, it was merely a question of when (and where). New England gets back a pair of late draft picks in next year's draft. After this move, the Pats seem committed to Damien Harris as the team's undisputed starting running back. Veteran James White is still around to handle third-down duties.

Fantasy impact
Michel's value takes a major leap forward after this trade. He has more value if used in tandem with Henderson than had he remained the backup to Harris in New England. Michel is a big sleeper for the 2021 campaign.
