WILSON, SEAHAWKS GET BOOST WITH OT BROWN
The Seattle Seahawks acquired offensive tackle Duane Brown and a 5th-round draft pick in 2018 from the Houston Texans for a 3rd-round draft pick in 2018 and a 2nd-round draft pick in 2019.
What does it give the Seattle Seahawks
The timing of this acquisition is probably ideal for the Seahawks. With the ground game sputtering and QB Russell Wilson throwing the ball more these days, a star pass protector--which is what Brown is--makes for a perfect addition. The run game still needs addressing, but Brown at least helps the Seahawks bolster an area of increasing strength.
What does it give the Houston Texans
This has to be a tough deal for Texans fans to swallow. Brown is a Pro Bowl left tackle, and with rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson emerging as a star it would have been nice to have Brown around to be his top bodyguard. Clearly Brown's holdout and contract situation was an issue here, but at least Houston adds some financial flexibility and draft picks by moving him.
Fantasy impact
When Brown held out of games earlier this season because of his contract situation, it was clear how much he was missed by the Houston offense. Replacing him will be a major challenge, so it might be wise to give slight fantasy downgrades to Watson the rest of the Texans offense this season. Equally, Wilson and the rest of Seattle's offensive players should see a solid fantasy boost the rest of the way thanks to Brown's arrival.
